clip image002 thumb16 RMB CollectionRMB, the China’s legal currency, acts as a general equivalent role in the process of commodity exchange. However, when put aside its original role, as a kind of art and artifact, it also has another unique function which draws much attention by the people as a tool of collection and investment.

So far, the PBC (The People’s Bank of China) has issued a total of five versions of RMB banknotes, in which the first, second and third editions have been withdrawn from circulation areas, and generated a lot of rare treasures. For example, the first edition of one million Yuan, "Wrangler map" notes is now up to 6 million Yuan, and extremely hard to find.

The more popular things, the more often that everyone ignored. The third edition of RMB has been pulled out of circulation since July 1, 2000, a full range of prices of which, at that time, was no more than 1,500 yuan, but now it costs no less than 25,000 Yuan. In 1962 the five-star watermarked 2 yuan notes were seen everywhere, just acting as the payment function. It was completely out of circulation in 2003 clip image004 thumb RMB Collectionwhen the price of each has already been 50 Yuan. However, now its market price raises at least 700 yuan above, the value of their investments being highlighted increasingly.

According to some investors, nowadays the investment usually goes in such forms of a knife (100 consecutive numbers), a bundle (1000 consecutive numbers), a strip (5000 of that) and a package (10000 of that) to be the transaction unit, while several pieces of notes are in fact of little practical significance. As the issuance of the fourth edition RMB notes are now at a value found in the early stages, the price is not high, which makes a lot of people who originally invest in stamps shrink a great portion of prior investment and gradually adjust their asset allocation onto the fourth edition notes.
