LaoShe Teahouse was named with the famous artist LaoShe who is considered a classic of modern Chinese literature. Since built in 1988, LaoShe Teahouse has become a well-known cultural attraction, providing with a multi-functional space for reading, dining, art performing, and also the indispensable tea-degusting for domestic and foreign people.
In this nostalgic old, full of JingWeier environment, you can enjoy opera, folk art, acrobatics, magic show, face changing and many other outstanding national art performances. Since opening, LaoShe Teahouse has served receptions for 47 foreign heads of state, many celebrities and more than 2 million Chinese and foreign tourists. LaoShe Teahouse locates in QianMen, a busy area of Beijing. SiHeChaYuan, behind the front door, is a form of traditional architecture of Beijing Courtyard, which is a very highlight of LaoShe Teahouse for promoting the culture of Beijing and tea culture. It integrates the grace rhyme of old capital and creates a tea house which just appears in dreams. Here, only leisure and quiet, only easy and comfort. Listening to melodious zither, watching exquisite artistic performances, tasting the scent of green tea, you can hardly resist the ambience to drive your mind returning back to the old days.
The whole teahouse is over 2600 square meters, whose internal decor is mainly the traditional Chinese decoration with dark color covering lanterns, mahogany furniture and stage, to present an antique impression. To drink tea, you should step upstairs to the third floor, where over 20 categories of tea are supplied as well as homogeneous species of dishes such as the roast duck. Another feature here is the thick color of Buddhism, almost at each door and on each floor are the statues of Buddha placed, dedicatedly.
At afternoon on Monday, Wednesday and Friday of every week, there are assemblages for opera fans and also opera shows. In the evening, music concert and acrobatics performances start at 17:40, with the price of 40-130 Yuan per ticket. Performances include ShuangHuang, DanXuan, opera singing and numerous others, full of wonderful excitement and Chinese characteristics. It is also a good place for hospitality for the Beijing people when friends or relatives come.
